Students attending the three
high schools in the Bellingham School District will have the opportunity to
participate in a quality athletic program next year. As a result of significant state budget cuts,
the high school athletic program will need to institute a fee structure for
participants in order to cover a larger portion of the program costs. In order to achieve this goal, students will
be required to pay a participation fee in addition to the ASB fee previously in
place. All interscholastic sports
currently offered will continue during the 2009-2010 school year.
TO PARTICIPATE IN ATHLETICS, STUDENTS MUST:

Have a current
physical on file prior to practice beginning. (Forms are available at each high
school)
?
Complete and
return an Eligibility Packet for Co-Curricular Activities with all required
signatures and information.
?
Purchase an ASB
Card (fees are listed below).
?
Pay the required
athletic participation fee (fees are listed below) for interscholastic sports.
?
Maintain required
academic standards and adhere to student behavior expectations.
?
Fees will be paid
directly to the designated ASB Secretary at each high school prior to
participation. Any student receiving
free or reduced lunch must complete a required form and return it to the school
office at time of registration for a sport in order to receive the reduced rate
for which they are eligible.

Some funds will
be available at each high school to assist students who require it. Administrators at each school will establish
a procedure to follow in order to seek this assistance.
